Soft Keil Interface Overview

The Soft Keil Interface is an alternative to a CAN interface. Instead of simply using the X-Analyser to connect to a CAN bus via an interface, it can connect to the Keil Embedded Simulator. This simulator is a part of the Keil Integrated Development Environment for 8051, c16x, ARM7 and ARM9 microcontrollers and allows the simulation of embedded C code. The use of the Keil Soft Interface therefore creates a virtual CAN bus and allows simulation of embedded C code and the remainder of the CAN bus.

Context of Simulation with X-Analyser/X-Script and the Keil Soft Interface

Node or network simulation is possible via the X-Analyser scripting feature and/or the Soft Keil Interface. The X-Analyser scripting feature provides a simple open standard scripting language with which the developer can simulate a node's network behaviour or even simulate the entire network behaviour. The Soft Keil Interface goes one step further and allows the user to connect the X-Analyser to the Keil Embedded Simulator and therefore simulate embedded C code whilst interacting/monitoring with a virtual CAN network.
