Overview
Already in 1995 the CiA (CAN in Automation) started to standardize a protcol for factory automation applications based on CAN. The success tells it’s own tale. CANopen is a wide spread field bus protocol and includes more than 40 standardized device profiles by the CiA.
Description
The CANopen Starter Kit provides an easy entry into the world of CANopen. Often engineers and decision makers want to get to know the protocol, the devices and tools without big investments. For this question port has the solution.
The CANopen Starter Kit comes with hardware you can use for your first steps in CANopen. The special IO-Box module allows controlling and monitoring of most common features of CANopen IO modules. Beside that you get a CAN monitoring device which can be useful for developing, testing and commissioning of CANopen devices.

Process signals can be simulated directly with the control elements and outputs can be displayed using Leds and LCD displays. On the CANopen side this device works like a CiA 401 IO device, which can be found in many industrial applications.
You will get to know the tools port provides. The CANopen Device Monitor is a complete CANopen master including all network management and communication functions. The tools are provides as demo versions which is limited in some functions. For the first steps in CANopen everything necessary is included. The tools can easily be upgraded to the full version.

To make usage of the Starter Kit you need to have an PC with Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Vista (32 bit). Everything else is in the package.
